Lonzo Ball isn’t interested in engaging in any sort of on-court trouble during his NBA rookie season.

Things got heated in the fourth quarter between the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night when a shoving match broke out between Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Tyler Ulis. You’ll quickly notice that three of Caldwell-Pope’s teammates rushed over to his rescue, but Ball clearly didn’t want any part in the action. Watch, as he casually made his way to the bench while his teammates fended for themselves.

Here’s another look at Ball seemingly miles away from the rest of the Lakers players.

When asked about the incident, Ball claimed that he did not want to receive a technical foul. Here’s exactly what he had to say.

The following is an excerpt from For The Win:

“It’s the NBA. People ain’t really gonna fight, so I ain’t trying to get no tech.”

Ball does raise a good point, but there’s also the argument that a player should always stand up for his teammates regardless of the outcome. No one was injured on the play so in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t mean much, but perhaps Ball will act differently the next time one of his teammates is in need of help.
