The Toronto Maple Leafs are in the playoffs in a full NHL season for the first time in the salary cap era and their fans are obviously pretty excited.

As we’ve seen happen for the Raptors in the last couple of years, Leafs fans are gathering in Maple Leaf Square outside the ACC despite the team being in Washington for tonight’s game. Not many people are giving the Maple Leafs a chance against the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Washington Capitals, but they are ahead early and Game 1 and the fans are going crazy.

Here is a video of the crowd after the Leafs first goal and a couple other moments throughout the night.

The Leafs will try their best to keep fans swarming to that area through the NHL playoffs, but even with a lead tonight, they’re in tough against the Capitals.

The square will also turn into Jurassic Park on Saturday as the Raptors start their series at home against the Milwaukee Bucks.
