The MTS Centre is one of the loudest barns in the NHL, and this was especially true when the late Len Kropioski was shown on the jumbotron.

Kropioski, a former WWII veteran, could be seen saluting prior to every home game. Those who were familiar with the fan knew him as ‘Kroppy’.

Kropioski lived in Kenora, Ontario, a two-and-a-half hour drive from Winnipeg. That didn’t stop the avid sports fan from attending most home games, though. His name became known throughout the Jets community, and he gradually turned into one of the faces of Jets hockey in Manitoba.

In 2016, Kroppy passed away at the age of 98.

To honour his legacy, Jets goaltender Michael Hutchinson had him painted onto his new mask. Take a look.

Unreal.

‘Hutch’ as he is known as by teammates, has rocked some pretty sharp helmets in the past. Here’s a look at the previous one he wore.

A goaltender’s helmet is a canvas for them to express who they are, and Hutchinson made it clear that he’s one classy guy. Kroppy will always be remembered in Winnipeg, and the new helmet will only help ensure that.
