WWE superstar Paige had a bit of a slow 2016 in the squared circle, but her career is apparently on the rise in other areas of fighting.

After dealing with an injury, being suspended, and rumours of her quitting WWE, we officially have good news on Paige's career front. The superstar is apparently looking towards a career in MMA.

On Wednesday afternoon, TMZ caught up with Paige, and her boyfriend former WWE superstar Alberto Del Rio, to chat about her fighting future. Del Rio previously had experience in MMA, runs a league, and told the reporter he's been training Paige a little in MMA. The two hint at Paige making the switch to MMA once her WWE contract comes to an end.

And if you quickly browse Paige's Twitter account, it's clear she's been training.

On top of that, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will be producing a film about Paige and her family, which he released a promo for yesterday.

BREAKING: Our @sevenbucksprod is excited to announce production on a cool project we've been working on for years based on a very unique and gritty professional wrestling family and a their daughter's journey into the spotlight of the WWE. "Fighting With My Family" Years ago (2012) while shooting Fast & Furious in London, I was up at 3am (too much caffeine) and stumbled upon a documentary on a UK station about a local wrestling family and their daughter's unlikely journey into the global spotlight. That daughter, is current WWE Women's Superstar, Paige. The family strong element I saw in the doc, is what grabbed my attention. That no matter how crazy life gets, no matter how dysfunctional our families can sometimes be and especially regardless of how much we fight - we're always there for each other when it counts. That's what families do. My gut said there was a great movie to be made so I sent to my agent Brad Slater at WME who loved it. He sent it to my long time ace producer Kevin Misher, who immediately responded to the doc and he thought we should go after one of our favorite writer/directors for material like this, Stephen Merchant. Merchant, being from the UK, locked in to a strong POV and vision of how gritty and heartfelt this film needs to be and the rest is history. Pleasure to partner with WWE Studios and Film 4 to bring this cool story to life. Paige and I both know what it's like to come from a wrestling family who's had it's good and hard times. Her and I have talked about this project for years now and we're all excited to bring her and her family's story to life. Cool casting announcements coming this week! #FightingWithMyFamily #SevenBucksProds #MisherFilms #WWEFilms #Film4 #BevisFamily #SquaredCircleDNA

Casting has already begun...

Our @sevenbucksprod welcomes to our #FightingWithMyFamily cast these two amazing actors. The brilliant/Bad Ass @iamlenaheadey and another Brit who's often mistaken as my twin, the genius @FriedGold (Nick Frost). Excited about these roles because Lena and Nick are playing Julia and Ricky - @realpaigewwe's mom and dad. Both Paige and myself are 3rd generation performers with a long history in the unique and crazy world of pro wrestling. Both our families made bones on the circuit by promoting small gritty wrestling shows to make a buck (my grandmother was the first ever female wrestling promoter in the early 80's and to say that she was "hard core" is an understatement). Ricky and Julia have that hard core DNA too - they do what they gotta do to get the job done. And in the end it always comes down to taking care of your family at all costs. Very cool to see so many brilliant actors respond to our script. Our writer/director Stephen Merchant did a fantastic job and I'm excited to work with him again. We worked together in The Tooth Fairy. He was an asshole then and things haven't changed. #FightingWithMyFamily #LenaHeadey #NickFrost
