At last year’s MLB Trade Deadline, the Chicago Cubs made a final addition to their roster by trading for Aroldis Chapman. To get such a highly coveted closer, the Cubs parted with their top prospect, Gleyber Torres.

Torres is a Venezuelan shortstop who isn’t likely to start in the majors this year, but if he continues at the ridiculous pace he’s set in the minors he could get a call up at some point. When you’re so close to something as big as becoming a major league ball player, it’s natural to want to try your hardest, sometimes to a fault.

They say not to swing out of your shoes for a reason, and this hilarious swing-and-miss from Torres is exactly why.

Not to worry though, Yankees fans, this has been the only blemish on Torres’s game in Spring Training. In fact, in the same at-bat, he ended up crushing an opposite field triple.

Funny enough, this wasn’t the only blooper from Yankee’s day, as Clint Frazier, their second ranked prospect got beaned in the head while diving to make a catch. Although it didn’t cause a home run, there were shades of Canseco on this one.
