There's nothing complicated or exciting about a single in baseball.

Singles are usually bloopers that drop in an open space, grounders that get past infielders, line drives to outfielders, or hustle plays.

That being said, they're an essential part of the game of baseball obviously as getting on base and scoring runs is the object of the game (duh).

During a recent high school softball game, however, fans were treated to one of the most unique and exciting singles you'll ever see.

Amanda Carney flipped the bat around her back, hit the ball with one hand on her bat and got a single out of it.

First of all, you have to be bold to try something like that, because if it doesn't work, you look like someone who is trying to show off but can't.  Clearly Amanda can.

Secondly, how in the world do you think of hitting the ball like that.  It's the farthest thing from natural, and yet Amanda looked as comfortable hitting like that as anyone would hitting normally.

Lastly, just wow, still in shock that Amanda tried that, especially considering we've never seen something like that before.

As incredible as the hit was, softball isn't even Amanda's best sport.

In 2016, she announced she had verbally committed to playing Division I basketball at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

One thing's for sure, the Hawks are getting a player with a ton of talent and creativity.
