"There's no such thing as a stupid question." In the context of a situation where there's a lesson to be learned, we agree with that statement wholeheartedly. However, at a press conference that involves professional athletes, there certainly are questions that could be deemed as "stupid."

Saturday, at a press conference following Naomi Osaka's third round loss to Kaia Kanepi, a journalist prefaced their question by saying "Stupid question." Well, they weren't wrong.

 

 

As to why the person asking that question was unaware of who won the match they were attending a press conference for, we're not sure. But we can bet that they won't be making that same mistake next time.

This year's U.S. Open was actually a breakthrough for 19-year-old Naomi Osaka, who managed to defeat defending champion Angelique Kerber. So we imagine she'll be moving on from this moment rather quickly.
