It all seemed figured out for pitcher Yu Darvish ahead of the MLB’s trade deadline. That is until his day took an unthinkable turn.

Darvish’s name had been tossed around in multiple trade rumors leading up to the deadline, but with ten minutes remaining, the Japanese pitcher was still a Texas Ranger. Seemingly excited that he wouldn’t be packing his bags, Darvish posted a picture of himself celebrating the fact that he was likely staying put.

The joy came to an abrupt end just a few minutes later, as the 30-year-old discovered that he had been traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers for a trio of prospects.

According to multiple reports, #Dodgers acquire RHP #YuDarvish from the #Rangers. Thoughts on the move? 🤔

Talk about bad timing.

It’s not the end of the world for Darvish, as he joins the league’s top team with a chance to win a World Series. The right-hander has struggled this season with a 6-9 record to go along with a 4.01 ERA, but that could turn around quickly with his new squad.

Regardless, this is an eventful day that Darvish will surely never forget.
