Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has been tearing the cover off the baseball so far this year. He’s in contention for the rarely obtained Triple Crown (leader in average, RBIs, and home runs), and he does so by way of raw power.

Guerrero Jr. sits third on the season in exit velocity, launching balls at an average of 95.2 MPH. That trails only Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge, who don’t even come close to Vladdy’s .332 batting average.

Basically, you don’t want that thing coming straight for you, but that’s almost the situation National Leauge All-Star Game starter Max Scherzer ended up in.

Vlad Jr. simply made up for it with a big ol’ hug!

This is likely the only game all year in which you would see two opposing players hug in this situation, so it was nice of Vladdy to take advantage of the moment. Besides, he still had plenty left in store in terms of entertainment…
