We’re nearing the end of the NHL’s regular season and still, a handful of notable players still have not found twine.

Not every player is going to hit the back of the net this season but we’re pretty surprised to see some names with zeros in the goal department. Blame it on the NHL’s format this season, or something else going on, but these dudes plain and simply are due for a goal. There’s not much time left, but here are three that have surprisingly still not potted one home this season.

For the purpose of the article, each player must have played at least 30 games by now.

ALEX EDLER

Again, we’re not expecting the world from these guys but Edler’s name is definitely one worth noting. The veteran defenceman has scored at least five goals in every full season of his career but has some extra games in hand after the Canucks were forced to miss time due to Covid. Will he find the scoresheet in the goals department? Time will tell. He also has just six assists on the season and is set to become a free agent this summer.

CHRISTIAN FISCHER

Fischer is not an elite scorer by any means but it’s surprising to see him without at least one goal so far through 41 games this season. The 32nd pick of the 2015 draft has scored 6, 11 and 15 goals respectively over the past three years and has picked up just five assists while manning the Coyotes’ fourth line. It’s time for a goal.

ETHAN BEAR

Say what you want about this name but Ethan Bear should have at least one goal by now. After scoring five in 71 games in his first full year with the team, Bear has had a tougher go in 2021 with zero through 31. Very solid player, but where are the genos?! His teammate Kris Russell hasn’t scored yet either but he also went scoreless last season so we’re not exactly surprised.

So… which of these players is going to end their drought first?
