Earlier today, we shared a Pennsylvania-based hockey arena’s twist on St. Patrick’s Day, which featured a bagpipes player on a Zamboni, and then we wondered if it could be outdone. Well, it didn’t take long -- at RiverWorks in Buffalo, an entire hockey rink was dyed in green for the weekend.

The green ice appears to have been used in some local hockey games in addition to being available during open skates. In some of the pictures above, the ice looks little different from the concrete underneath it, like you would see in a box lacrosse game, but in others, the ice appears to have texture resembling the rind of a watermelon. One is definitely cooler than the other.

Still, points for creativity, and definitely for effort. This is certainly a skating experience that we’d like to try.
