There are a few particular ways to piss of Toronto Maple Leafs Fans. You can remind them their team hasn’t been to the Stanley Cup since 1967… let them know they haven’t won a playoff series since 2004… or simply tell them that Patrik Laine is better than Auston Matthews.

Yeah, that’ll do it.

The two players have been linked together since entering the NHL as rookies in 2016 and both Leafs, and Jets fans have their own thoughts. Sure, Matthews has technically been better statistically over the past four season but hey, Laine’s had his own success in Winnipeg and nearly made it to a Stanley Cup Final. We were eager to finally get down to the bottom of this one so our resident Jets fan Jesse Pollock took to the street in Downtown Toronto to ask Leafs fans to change his opinion on the debate. Surprise, surprise! The dude is under the impression Patty is the superior forward.

That dude with the long flow has a point. Why was Jesse wearing Nike Air Monarchs? Aren’t those for dads?

If you want to get down to the small details then here are some stats for you to take in. Matthews has more goals and assists in less games played and is coming off a career best 47-goal campaign. Meanwhile, Laine averaged is most points per game to date with 63 in 68 but scored just 28 goals (which is still really impressive, btw). But hey, when you’re as passionate about your team as this Jets fan is… sometimes you’ve just got to defend your guys. Even if there’s a chance you’re fight a losing battle.

At least Jesse can get a bit of satisfaction out of knowing Patrik has at least won a playoff series. That’s more than Aussie has so far!
