What do Marshawn Lynch and Macklemore have in common?

Well, just about nothing, except for the fact that they are both icons in the city of Seattle. Macklemore is a native of Seattle before making it big in the music industry, while Marshawn Lynch was a star running back for the Seattle Seahawks from 2011-2015 (with a brief return in 2019).

Now they can add something else to their short list of commonalities; they’re both involved with the historic unveiling of the NHL’s 32nd franchise.

The NHL announced on Monday that the Seattle Kraken’s first roster would be unveiled by a number of bigtime Seattle icons.

Former Seahawks players Marshawn Lynch and Bobby Wagner represent the NFL, while former Seattle SuperSonics stars Shawn Kemp and Gary Payton, along with former coach Lenny Wilkins, represent the NBA. Meanwhile, Sue Bird still stars on the WNBA’s Seattle Storm, and Seattle Mariners outfielder Kyle Lewis gets the MLB involved as well. Jordan Morris of the Seattle Sounders rounds out the Seattle-based athletes.

Additionally, star musical artist Macklemore and big name movie and television producer Jerry Bruckheimer will also be helping out. After all, he is the co-majority owner of the team.

Finally, Hockey Hall of Fame member and Kraken scout Cammi Granato was announced as another to unveil a pick. It’s going to be a star-studded lineup to say the least!
