When you’re sitting in the stands at a baseball game you have to understand that there is a certain amount of danger. While the odds of being injured are slim, baseballs come screaming off player’s bats and put unsuspecting fans at risk. You may get a bat flying into the stands from time to time as well, but generally speaking that’s all you have to worry about at the ballgame.

Oh, and hot dogs. Hot dogs can apparently be dangerous as well, and we’re not talking about food poisoning.

Kathy McVay was in the stands at a Philadelphia Phillies game when the Phillie Phanatic rolled out his famous hot dog launcher. The idea is to supply free hot dogs to fans in the stands, but unfortunately for McVay it didn’t work out quite like that. She instead got smoked in the face, leaving her with a black eye and cut up nose.

The crazy story wrapped up with a quick trip to the emergency room to make sure that she hadn’t gotten a concussion in the hot dog madness.

Don’t see that every day. The woman seems to generally have a sense of humour about the incident, and the whole news report honestly seems like something straight out of Saturday Night Live.

The Phanatic can relax, though. She will not be pressing charges.
