Adam Sandler is no stranger to the game of hockey. Obviously, his role as Happy Gilmore connected him to hockey fans worldwide, but he grew up watching teams such as Bobby Orr’s Bruins as well as the Rangers.

Recently, he also got a chance to meet young Devils star Jack Hughes, and he recounted his first impression of the 18-year-old in an interview with the NHL.

Hughes and the Devils may be off to an underwhelming start to the season so far, but both team and player finally got on the board with their first win and point in the NHL respectively.

It probably feels pretty good to get that monkey off your back, and it’s still too early to be freaking out about anything anyway. After Hughes notched his first point, P.K. Subban had some strong words of encouragement for the young gun.

Jack Hughes picked up his first #NHL point and P.K. #Subban thinks A LOT more are coming 👀
