We’ve finally got football celebrations back, with NFL teams showing off their creativity over the past couple years as a result. Now we may be in store for some extra creative hockey celebrations, that is if the Charlotte Checkers revolutionary idea takes off.

The Carolina Hurricanes AHL affiliate is trying out something new – individualized goal songs. This idea allows players to pick what song they want to have blast through the arena if they happen to be the one that deposits the biscuit in the basket.

This is a fantastic idea, but it comes with a few questions. What happens if there’s a redirection in front of the net, and you aren’t quite sure who will be credited with the goal? What if the other team scores on themselves by accident? Maybe there should also be a default song the coordinators can resort to essentially to say “Ayy, we have no idea what happened there so here’s some music anyway.”

They gave it a go already, with a few players showing off their taste in music, as well as their skill on the ice.

Let’s see if other teams take on this idea too, players may even try a little extra hard to score (just kidding…).
