Most leagues tend to wait for the offseason to hold the draft, but Major League Baseball is not like most leagues.

Instead of waiting for the winter, the MLB Draft is hosted during the season and always takes place during the first few days of June. On Monday, the 2019 MLB Draft got underway and the Toronto Blue Jays selected West Virginia pitcher Alek Manoah with the 11th overall pick in the draft.

The 6-foot-6, 260-pound right handed pitcher has been lights out this season for the Mountaineers, owning a 9-4 record and a 2.08 ERA through 16 starts with two complete game shutouts and 144 strikeouts in 108.1 innings of work., and he was extremely pumped up once he heard his name called.

It’s safe to say that Manoah is excited to start putting in work with his new club.
