Aleksander Barkov has built his hockey career on unselfish play, as he is considered to be one of the most responsible two-way forwards in the National Hockey League.

He is a guy that gets it done on all ends of the ice and he makes everyone around him better. Sometimes, to his own detriment. On Thursday night, the Panthers were up 3-2 over the Devils and with only seconds remaining on the clock and an empty net with the puck on his stick, Barkov passed the puck.

His teammate, Jonathan Huberdeau, realized that he already had two goals and wanted him to get the hat trick instead, so he passed the puck back and actually pointed telling Barkov to shoot, but it was too late.

Barkov had a pretty hilarious reason for why he chose to pass the puck instead of securing his third goal of the game.

Not to worry, we’re sure he’ll have many more photo opportunities in his career. In fact, he’s already had plenty. It feels like he hasn’t been in the league very long, but he played his 300th NHL game in February.
