Although he’s just 17 years old, there’s already a high level of hype being established for Canadian prospect and Quebec native Alexis Lafrenière, who is being regarded as the consensus first overall pick of the 2020 NHL Draft.

Currently playing for the Rimouski Océanic of the QMJHL, Lafrenière is obviously still some years away from the NHL, but he’s already tearing it up in the juniors. After crossing the 100-point threshold on the season in a game on Sunday, Lafrenière has officially joined such players as Sidney Crosby and Claude Giroux on a pretty impressive list of accomplishments.

Yeah, this isn’t just any average 17 year old we’re talking about here. A lot can happen between now and 2020, and you never really know how a guy may translate to the NHL, but Lafrenière is sure keeping himself in some good company for now. The hype machine rolls on!

Canadiens can definitely get excited for this guy.
