Here in Canada, we love the CFL. But we also happen to love the NFL and it’s looking like Canadians might get a chance to take in a game at home this season.

The NFL is holding its annual meetings in Phoenix, Arizona this week and to the delight of football fans North of the Border, the possibility of the Oakland Raiders playing a preseason game in Western Canada was brought up. In addition to the Black and Silver in the crowd, you can expect to see a few watermelons… buckle up Saskatchewan, because the NFL might be coming your way!

What an offseason it’s been for Raider Nation. The organization has managed to stick around in Oakland for an extra year, trade for the best receiver in football, AND are now headed to Mosaic for some preseason action. Not sure how they feel about missing out on an opportunity to play in Hawaii but hey, they’ll be playing in scorching hot Las Vegas in just a few seasons, so guess they can get through. Let’s just hope Sasky doesn’t see any snowfall for whatever reason this August…

The last NFL exhibition game in Canada took place in 2013 between the Atlanta Falcons and Buffalo Bills at the Rogers Centre. Atlanta pulled away with a 41-31 thirlling OT win against the home Bills, who’re just a few hours drive away from Toronto.

Nothing is set in stone, but this would be a pretty unreal experience for Western Canadian football fans. SPIDER 2 Y… Watermelon?
