There is nothing more frustrating to a coach than a two minute minor for too many men on the ice. Sure, dumb tripping penalties, slashing infractions, or roughing call can make a coach’s skin crawl, but the too many men is a different sort of irritating. It’s so inexcusably a mistake that there is literally no room for subjectivity.
You can imagine how players feel during a slow skate to the box if they’re the ones responsible for a too many men call. That is the exact skate Andreas Athanasiou was trying to avoid when he pulled a crafty move and somehow got away without punishment.

Yup, he hopped into the ice-side commentator’s box located between the benches. This, of course, is not legal, but it apparently caused just enough deception to fool the zebras.
It certainly won’t become a common move, but it definitely would have given commentator Bryce Salvador an even closer view of the action than he already had!
