The baseball community was shocked by the passing of 27-year-old Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs earlier this month. His teammates and other stars around the league have found various ways to honour him, and even earlier this week, the Angels pulled off an incredible combined no-hitter in their first home game since Skaggs’ passing.

For L.A.-based muralist Jonas Never, Skaggs’ passing was especially impactful. The two were teammates on the Santa Monica High School baseball team, so it’s only fitting that Never’s latest mural is a tribute to Skaggs, right across from the field they used to share.

It’s a touching tribute, for sure. Never is a pretty well-known muralist around Los Angeles, but obviously, this one has special meaning more than the rest.

You may even have seen his work before, without knowing it at the time. His murals throughout Los Angeles include portraits of LeBron James, Jared Goff, Anthony Bourdain and Nipsey Hussle; this LeBron mural was among the first ones put up after he signed in Los Angeles (and it even became known for a series of vandalizations after that).
