Auston Matthews is new to the NHL, but apparently he’s already seen a lot when it comes to pranks at the NHL level.

In a special Leafs series “Leaf to Leaf” he sat down with Frederik Andersen, who asked him about what the best prank he’s seen so far is. He’s not even through his second year in the league and he drops some knowledge on a prank that Leo Komarov pulled that we’ve never even heard of.

Part of the reason not many people of heard of it is because you probably can’t pull it off without a pro locker room and an equipment manager.

Here he is explaining the prank:

So, the reason you’re not going to find success with this in a beer league is because nobody keeps their helmet at eye level. It might be in someone’s bag or on the bench beside them, but never as high as it would need to be for this prank. On top of that, you would need the helmet to be out of their possession which only really happens with equipment managers who place the players’ gear in stalls before they arrive.

If you’re looking for a classic prank, the clear tape on the blade is always the easiest.
