Every kid at one point or another brings a sign to a professional sports game. Whether it’s for an individual player or an entire team, we’ve all had that dream of being shown on the jumbotron or television broadcast rockin’ that ‘cool’ sign. The tables have turned though for Auston Matthews, who has more signs made for him these days than most. After Braden Holtby gave an adult who stole a puck that was intended for a kid the death stare, Matthews was asked about some funny fan experiences he’s had during his time in the league. The 21-year-old was pretty quick to point out that it came against the Columbus Blue Jackets and involved hot dogs.

It’s worth noting that Matthews was sidelined with an injury at the time…

Matthews reveals favourite fan sign and it's hot-dog related

That’s pretty much as random as it gets folks!

Speaking of hot dogs… a fan more recently brought a sign involving them to Edmonton ahead of the Penguins vs. Oilers game. Evgeni Malkin loved it so much that he decided to stick it his Instagram story… of course it features ‘Phil the Thrill Kessel’.

This one from an Oilers game last year was pretty good, too…

We’re sure one fan is going to somehow find a way to move up on Aussie’s list.
