For the second-straight year, the Toronto Maple Leafs' season ended in the first round of the playoffs.

This year's loss felt a lot more disappointing than last year's, though, in part because Auston Matthews didn't meet the extremely high expectations that come with being a superstar.

After the Leafs were eliminated, reports surfaced of a potential "rift" between Matthews and Babcock and that led to both of them being asked questions about their relationship.

On Monday, Babcock was the latest guest to stop by the 'Dreger Cafe' and he addressed the perceived rift with his star player as well as detailed the meeting he had with Matthews after the Boston series.

 

Based on what Babcock said and what Matthews has said since that last game in Boston, it all seems good between the two and there's no reason to think it isn't.
