If you’re a Dallas Stars fan, you were probably pretty pumped about the team's outlook for the 2017/18 season. The club made the biggest off-season splashes headlined by the signings of Ben Bishop, Alexander Radulov and Martin Hanzal, and brought in veteran defensive coach Ken Hitchcock to shore up the team’s structure.

The Stars season didn’t get off on much of a good note, as the club dropped their home opener to the Vegas Golden Knights, and lost starter Ben Bishop after the former Lightning and Kings took a puck to his brand new Stars mask that caught him in the cage.

At the time of the Bishop’s departure, the Stars held on to a 1-0 lead with Bishop turning aside the first 19 shots he faced in a Dallas Jersey, but went on two fall 2-1 thanks to a two-goal performance from former Star James Neal. Kari Lehtonen took the loss after allowing two goals on 11 shots.

Bishop tweeted out a picture of his face today, and showed everyone the damage from the puck catching him up high. While it’s not as bad as some of the cuts we’ve seen over the years, it still did a decent amount of damage when you see the cut over Bishop’s left eyebrow.

The 31-year-old goaltender should be good to go when the Stars seek their first win of the season on Tuesday night when at home against the Red Wings.

The Stars lost 4-2 on Saturday night to the St. Louis Blues as Bishop backed up Lehtonen, and find themselves 0-2 to open the season.
