The NFL preseason officially got underway on Thursday night as 24 teams across the league hit the field across the United States.

The New England Patriots played host to the Washington Redskins and it was a brutal opening half from the home side as they trailed 17-3 at halftime. As the teams made their way back onto the field to start the second half, Patriots head coach Bill Belichick stopped to do a quick interview with Steve Burton and it was classic Belichick from beginning to end.

Belichick said his team played about “38 seconds of good football” in the first half and he wasn’t lying considering one of the most dominant home teams in the league went into halftime trailing by 14. However, whatever he said to his guys in the locker room at the half really got to them because they went out and shutout the Redskins 23-0 in the second half to win the game 26-17.

The Patriots will be back at home next week when they host the Eagles next Thursday night.
