Five minutes before the deadline hit, the contract was officially sent through.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and William Nylander took a page out of a university student's notebook by getting a contract extension done in the just minutes before Nylander was slated to sit out the rest of the season.

With Nylander signing 26 games into the season, the deal carries an average annual value of $10.2 million for the 2018/19 season and an average of $6.9 million per season in years 2-6.

After Darren Dreger broke the deal, TSN's Bob McKenzie weighed in and broke down the financial implications of the deal.

Never one to pass up a good Twitter reference, the TSN Hockey Insider corrected the slight mathematical hiccup with a popular citation whenever the No. 69 pops up on Twitter.

Nice job, Bob.

For lockout protection and money up front, Nylander received a hefty signing bonus to go along with the extension.

According to the fine folks over at Cap Friendly, the Leafs now have $5,195,609 in projected cap space.

Nylander posted back-to-back 61 campaigns in his first two full seasons in Toronto.

#NylanderWatch, or "Willy Watch," as some coined it as, is finally over, folks.
