The Ottawa Senators had a chance to end their series with the Boston Bruins on home ice on Friday night, but ended up falling short in double overtime.

The #Bruins are still alive after defeating the #Senators 3-2 in double overtime.

The Senators jumped out to a 1-0 lead just past the midway point of the opening period, and quickly added to their lead 30 seconds into the second period. However, their luck changed a few minutes later.

Just over two minutes after taking a 2-0 lead in the game, the Senators received a penalty for having too many men on the ice. Bobby Ryan ended up serving the penalty for his team, but ran into some trouble in the penalty box.

Nothing like a quick surprise from the water bottle. Jean-Gabriel Pageau was the last member of the Senators to sit in the box in the first period, so perhaps he set up the water bottle prank for whoever was sitting next.

The Senators have not won a playoff series since the 2012-13 season when they defeated the Montreal Canadiens in 5 games in the first round, so a series-clinching victory on home ice would have been nice. Instead, they now have to wait to try again on Sunday afternoon in Boston.
