The big man is returning for another year. On Saturday morning, the Boston Bruins announced that they had re-signed Zdeno Chara to a one-year contract, bringing their 42-year-old captain back for his 22nd season in the NHL.

While there was some speculation that Chara would retire, he’ll be there on the Boston blueline for at least another year, just as we’ve grown so used to seeing.

At least one of his teammates was thrilled to see his captain back: Brad Marchand, as active as ever on social media, congratulated Big Z in a heartfelt Instagram post.

We’re more used to seeing Marchand use the internet for his trash-talking, but he got sentimental in this one for Chara — the two have been teammates since Marchand’s NHL debut all the way back in 2009.

Chara also thanked members of the Bruins organization in a classy post himself.

We’re sure that we’ll be back to regular programming on Marchand Watch soon. When it comes to chirping his teammates, not even Chara has escaped Marchand’s line of fire.
