November is Hockey Fights Cancer month in the NHL and teams across the league are doing all sorts of things to show support for cancer patients and their families.
From special initiatives to pre-game celebrations, teams and their players are finding different ways to help inspire those who are living with, going through and moving past cancer.
The Washington Capitals hosted their Hockey Fights Cancer Night on Thursday and they had a lot of special guests in attendance for their tilt with the New York Islanders.
Ahead of the big night, Capitals goalie Braden Holtby had a special mask made up for Hockey Fights Cancer Night."
Designed by David Gunnarsson, the mask is a remake of the mask Holtby rocks on a nightly basis, only this one features the Hockey Fights Cancer colour scheme instead of the Capitals’ red, white and blue, and also includes the Hockey Fights Cancer logo.
Holtby has rocked many different masks over his career and a lot of them have gone towards a good cause. From supporting Gord Downie’s foundations to showing support for You Can Play, Holtby continues to make a difference in the community through the artwork on his masks.
