We’re not sure if it’s the fact that they’re coming off of an 8-0 stomping of the Islanders in Game 5, but the Tampa Bay Lightning look pretty much unstoppable right now.

People can argue all day long about what makes great playoff teams great playoff teams, but there is one across the board consistency in teams that find postseason success: their big dogs show up to play.

While a surprise, unsung hero is always a great story, having your best players be your best players is what all successful teams require. No one shows that more clearly this postseason than the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Vasilevskiy has been lights out, the top five scoring leaders in the playoffs are ALL Tampa Bay Lightning players (Kucherov - 27, Point - 18, Stamkos - 17, Killorn - 16, Hedman – 16), and Brayden Point is on the verge of history.

Point has already registered a goal in tonight’s game versus the Islanders to put the Lightning up 1-0. In doing that, he extended his playoff goal streak to nine games, and put himself one away from history.

That puts Point just one away from the record of 10, set by Reggie Leach way back in 1976. When asked about it by NHL.com, Leach said that he hopes Point catches his record.

"I think it's great, I think it's good for hockey. Records are meant to be broken and the young kid is playing well. I've seen a lot of his goals. To score in 10 consecutive games in the playoffs, that's something special. I wish him all the luck."

Sounds like a great blessing to us!

It doesn’t look like Point or the Lightning are showing any sign of slowing down, so we’ll see if Point can make some history this run.
