Brett Phillips had one of the most incredible pitching debuts that baseball has ever seen. After trailing the Jays 10-1 in the bottom of the eighth, the Rays outfielder entered the game and put on an absolute show. Everything from his bullpen warmup to his actual pitching was nothing short of extraordinary.

To his credit, Brett Phillips was throwing 94 mph fastballs, and kept the Jays on their toes with some sub-50 mph lobs. Anytime you make a pitching appearance like this, you know you’re going to be asked about it, and Phillips delivered in his press conference. Heck, his responses might have been even better than his pitching debut.

He might not have the numbers that Shohei Ohtani has, but Phillips clearly knows the value of a player who can pitch and hit. If this is what we can expect from Phillips, then we want to see Tampa get blown out more often. He didn’t stop at comparing himself to Ohtani. Why not compare yourself to Mariano Rivera and Randy Johnson as well while you're at it!

In case Phillips’ antics aren’t enough to make you a fan of his, he’s also supporting the Tampa Bay Lightning while they close in on the Stanley Cup.
