Alex Ovechkin made an impact in the NHL right from the get go as a 20-year-old rookie during the 2005-06 season, scoring 52 goals and 106 points in 81 games, but there’s one goal in particular that every hockey fan remembers or has seen at least once.
On January 16, 2006, the Capitals went into Phoenix and crushed the Coyotes, 6-1. Ovi ended up scoring the first and final goals of the game, and it was his second goal that took the league by storm.
Sure, everyone remembers the unbelievable goal that Ovi scored from his back, but not everyone remembers who was in between the pipes for the Coyotes that night.
Well, it was Brian Boucher and he didn’t forget about the goal at all.
We’ve seen Ovi score A LOT of goals during his career, but we’ll probably never see him score another one like that.
