Brian Boyle has experienced a lot of ups and downs this NHL season, but his story is one of the most inspiring ones you’ll hear about all year long and for years to come.

Ahead of the regular season, the former first round pick announced that he had been diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia, a form of blood and bone marrow cancer. Despite going through different treatments, Boyle still focused on hitting the ice this season and that’s exactly what he did on November 1, 2017, when he made his New Jersey Devils debut.

While Boyle was just focusing on getting better and returning to the ice to help his team win some games, he probably didn’t expect to make his NHL All-Star Game debut this year, but that’s exactly what will happen this weekend as he’s replacing Taylor Hall as the Devils’ representative.

Good luck, Boyler! Tune into @nbcsn for the #NHLAllStar Skills competition!

Since the Hingham, Massachusetts native spent three seasons in a Tampa Bay Lightning uniform, you can bet he got quite the ovation when his name was announced throughout the arena.

Boyle has played in 38 of the Devils’ 48 games this season and has 11 goals and six assists for 17 points.
