Since the Raptors acquired Kawhi Leonard from the San Antonio Spurs, sports outlets across North American have all been pondering the future of the now Toronto Raptor.

“Is he healthy enough to play? Will he like Toronto? What is the likelihood of him re-signing in Toronto before he becomes a free agent next summer?”

While those are valid questions and will be answered in the coming months, the Raptors also acquired Danny Green in the deal that saw them send DeMar DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl, and a protected 1st round pick in 2019 to the Spurs.

Green, 31, has spent nine seasons in the NBA and will fit well in the Raptors’ systems given his strong two-way ability and three-point prowess. Over his career, Green has converted on 39.5 percent of his shots from behind the three-point line.  That is 3.7 percent above the Raps team average last season, ranking them 18th in the league.

Adding Green to an already solid three-point shooting team (and the subtraction of a DeMar DeRozan’s 28.9 percent average) with Kyle Lowry, C.J. Miles, Fred VanVleet and Serge Ibaka. While those numbers are impressive if you dig a little deeper and sort by corner threes, you’ll start to see just how deadly the Raps could be when if they chose to shoot from close to the baseline.

The tweet happened to catch the attention of Miles, who provided a classic, but an effective trio of emojis to signify his 51% percentage from the corner and the aforementioned players along with Leonard, OG Anunoby and Delon Wright.

After being acquired by the Raps, Green took to Instagram to share a special message to the Spurs and their fans, thanking them for his time in San Antonio.
