It doesn’t matter if both teams are doing well, if both are struggling, or if one is doing better than the other, there’s always going to be a rivalry between the Flames and the Oilers in what’s known as the Battle of Alberta. To say both teams dislike each other would be a bit of an understatement, but that doesn’t mean they forget about the bigger picture when they go head-to-head.

This past weekend the Flames topped the Oilers 5-2, but both Calgary and Edmonton ended up teaming up to help brighten the day of a young Flames fan named Jack. The aspiring goalie recently had his season come to a halt after someone stole his goalie equipment, along with his father’s gear, but it looks like he’ll be returning to the action a lot sooner than he expected thanks to the teams, as well as Sport Central, Sports Equip Bank and plenty of generous Albertans.

Not only did they surprise Jack with a set of brand new equipment, but he also go to take in the Flames’ practice on Monday as they prepare for their tilt with the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night.

It’s nice to see Calgary and Edmonton put the rivalry aside to help put a smile on Jack’s face.
