When the Montreal Canadiens and the Nashville Predators swapped P.K. Subban and Shea Weber two years ago a lot of people considered it to be a fair trade for both sides. However, even more people believed that the Preds walked away as the winners and it has looked that way so far over the first two seasons.

On Thursday afternoon, Habs fans were dealt an even bigger blow as they found out their top defenceman is set to miss the next five to six months due to knee surgery.

Considering Weber appeared in just 26 games last year while Subban played all 82, was a runner-up for the Norris Trophy and was named the cover athlete for NHL 19, fans in Montreal are not pleased with the latest news from their team.

A lot of people predicted that this trade would help the Habs win now, while the Preds would benefit a couple of years down the road. Instead, Subban and the Preds made an appearance in the Stanley Cup Final in his first year with the team, while Weber has played just six playoff games in a Canadiens sweater.

Subban has totaled 26 goals and 73 assists for 99 points in 148 regular season games, plus six goals and 15 assists for 21 points in 35 playoff games with the Preds, while Weber has totaled 23 goals and 35 assists for 58 points in 104 regular season games with the Habs, plus one goal and three points in six playoff games.
