Once the NHL season officially wraps up most fans and analysts turn their focus on the potential free agents heading into the summer. Well, the Arizona Coyotes and the Montreal Canadiens made a splash one week ahead of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and a couple of weeks away from free agency as the Coyotes sent Max Domi to Montreal in exchange for Alex Galchenyuk.

Considering Galchenyuk signed a three-year deal with the Habs nearly one year ago and it’s clear the team needs a solidified centre, most Habs fans were completely shocked when they heard the news.

Most Canadiens fans don’t believe that Galchenyuk was ever given a fair chance, especially considering he has totaled 50 or more points in two of the past three seasons and has hit the 44-point mark each of the past four years. Now that he’s going to get a shot with the Yotes has Habs Nation in a very angry state.

As for the Canadiens, they aren’t wasting any time after the deal as they’re already in contract talks with the newest member of the organization.

Galchenyuk appeared in 418 games as a member of the Canadiens over the past six years and totaled 108 goals and 147 assists for 255 points, while Domi appeared in 222 games over three seasons and totaled 36 goals and 99 assists for 135 points.
