Fans of the Vancouver Canucks got a glimpse into the future when they watched Team USA claim a silver medal at the 2019 World Junior Championships.

While defenceman Quinn Hughes took a good portion of the spotlight, Tyler Madden turned some heads for his pesky player and four-point outing (three goals, one assist) in seven total games.

The son of former NHLer John Madden was selected in the third round (68th overall) by the Canucks in the 2018 NHL NHL Entry Draft and is currently playing in his sophomore season at Northeastern University.

On Saturday night, Madden, 19, lifted the Huskies to a 2-1 victory in overtime over UMass-Amherst when he lifted a backhander farside while on a two-on-one.

The goal was great and all, but the highlight of the clip had to be the kayak celebration, as he paddled down the side of the boards and cellied right in front of the Minutemen's bench.

β€œI never practiced that. I just got on my butt and started paddling," said Madden post-game to John Connolly of the Boston Herald.

Check out some of the crowd's reaction inside the Matthews Arena.

Madden is producing at over a point-per-game with eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points in 18 games.
