The fathers trip has become an annual thing across the NHL as teams pick out specific road trips during the season to take the players’ fathers on the road with them.

This week, the Carolina Hurricanes are switching things up for their one-game road trip to New Jersey as they’ll be hosting the first-ever moms trip.

The Hurricanes players’ moms joined the team at practice on Wednesday afternoon before the team departed for New Jersey.

While this will mark the first-ever moms trip in Carolina Hurricanes history, it isn’t the first one to take place in the NHL. Last season the Boston Bruins hosted a moms trip when they visited the Pittsburgh Penguins, while the New Jersey Devils hosted their first-ever moms trip this past weekend in Columbus.

This is definitely a cool thing and it’s only a matter of time until more teams start hosting an annual moms trip.
