The Toronto Raptors and their fans thought Chris Bosh was going to spend his entire career with the franchise after they selected him with the fourth overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, but that all came to an end in 2010 when he decided to join LeBron James and Dwyane Wade in Miami with the Heat.

Raptors faithful made sure to give Bosh a tough time whenever he returned to Toronto with the Heat, and some still hold a grudge against him to this day, but if there’s something he’s never really opened up about it’s his decision to leave the Raptors for the Heat. Until now, that is.

Earlier this week, Bosh was a guest on The Bill Simmons Podcast where he discussed his move to the Heat and all the small things about playing in Toronto at the time that led to him making the decision to leave.

Chris #Bosh opens up about his decision to leave the #Raptors.

Bosh mentioned some of the obvious things from his time with the Raptors like the team not being a contender during his time there and no free agents ever wanting to come to Toronto, but he also mentioned some minor things from behind the scenes like going in and out of customs at the airport for every road trip and having to pay major money in taxes.

As we all know, the move worked out very well in Bosh’s favour as he went on to win back-to-back NBA championships with the Miami Heat in 2012 and 2013, and he’ll have his No. 1 retired by the Heat later this season.
