Connor Carrick was selected in the fifth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Washington Capitals but went on to spend a majority of his time in the AHL with the Hershey Bears during his stint with the organization. However, once he was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs during the 2015-16 season things changed for the Orlando Park, Illinois native as he’s only played five games with the Toronto Marlies in comparison to 130 in the NHL with the Maple Leafs.

On Wednesday afternoon, the 24-year-old announced he’s signed a new deal with the Maple Leafs with a post that any hockey player can appreciate.

Aside from announcing his new deal with a photo of him signing a contract in half his hockey gear in a locker room in Chicago, the defenceman had this caption to go with it.

“Thrilled to be a Toronto Maple Leaf. Looking forward to a big season for our group, and adding my part to reach/surpass our potential. Coffee companies of Toronto will benefit. Hoagie is familiar with the Dog Parks, @lexsolofs loves the city, and no doubt we’ll be a hungry group from opening night on. All awesome. #GoLeafsGo Honored and very privileged.”

Carrick appeared in 47 games with the Maple Leafs last season and potted four goals and 12 points in that span.
