The NHL remains on pause and at this point, no one really knows what its future holds.

Play went to a halt back on March 12th after the NBA announced it had suspended all of its games the previous night. So what now? does the NHL attempt to salvage the season before action picks up again in October? Or will Gary Bettman be forced to simply call the 2019-2020 campaign a write-off? With some extra time now on their hands, two of the league's most familiar faces went on separate video calls to share their thoughts on the situation.

Although he'd like to play as many regular season games to protect the integrity of the league, Sidney Crosby admitted that he "wouldn't mind" starting the playoffs as soon as it returns to action. Pittsburgh currently sits third in the Metropolitan Division with 86 points.

What are your thoughts on this? πŸ€”

His long-time rival Alex Ovechkin doesn't seem to be worried as much about the regular season and would actually like to see the playoffs starts right away. P.K. Subban suggested a new playoff format, but it probably won't fly...

Nice try @subbanator πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

As much as hockey fans would love to see playoff action, they shouldn't expect to see it too late into the year. Commissioner Gary Bettman said that he does not want to interfere with the 2020-21 season during an appearance on ESPN's GetUp!

The Canadian Hockey League has already cancelled the remainder of its seasons so time will tell if the NHL will be forced to do the same. It feels weird knowing that April is around the corner and playoff hockey likely won't be available.

So rattling.
