Some things are better left unsaid.

The Chicago Blackhawks and Vancouver Cancucks have a storied rivalry that reached its peak earlier in the decade. From 2009-2013, both teams hailed as two of the Western conference's top organizations and memorably battled in a seven game series in 2011. Vancouver ultimately moved on with an overtime winner from Alex Burrows.

Over the years, Canucks fans grew to hate former Blackhawks forward Dave Bolland. Known as “The Rat”, Bolland earned the reputation as a player who could easily get under his opponent’s skin. A ‘Nucks fan who goes by the Twitter handle @Stephenson_Sam decided to spice things up on his Twitter account by taking a direct shot at the 31-year-old. In a bold statement, Stephenson claimed Bolland was the worst player in the NHL and compared his relatively shorter career to those of the Sedin twins.

Ouch?

Bolland channeled his inner Patrick Roy and shot back at Stephenson the best way he could; by reminding him about his two Stanley Cup rings he won during his time with the Blackhawks.

The 31-year-old’s former Chicago teammate Dan Carcillo also decided to chime in by posting his own pictures of the rings.

Clearly mad, Stephenson responded with a series of replies on Twitter, taking direct shots at both players and downplaying their respective roles within the Blackhawks organization.

The online rant hardly comes as a surprise considering his bio reads, “You’re mad? I’m glad.” It seems as though Stephenson was looking to stir the pot and likely had his wish come true based off of both players’ responses.

Today, both teams are outside of the playoffs looking in. Bolland isn’t even a part of the Blackhawks organization anymore, as he has been under contract with the Arizona Coyotes since the 2016-17 season and has not participated in a NHL game since the 2015-16 season with the Florida Panthers. Still, the Mimico, Ontario native has two more Stanley Cups than most.

Regardless of what Stephenson says, Bolland will always have that on him.
