The most controversial sports debates usually involve ranking players, whether it be the best players in a particular sport right now or the best players of all-time in that sport.

With the 2017-18 season still a long ways away, Sports Illustrated is in the process of releasing their annual top 100 NBA player rankings and for the second straight year, DeMar DeRozan isn't happy with his ranking.

On the top 100 NBA Players of 2017 list, DeRozan came in at 46 and let everyone know how he felt about the ranking on Twitter.

The 27-year-old then showed the basketball world why the ranking was bogus as he had a career year during the 2016-17 season (27.3 points per game) and was named an All-Star for the third time in his career.

DeRozan's incredible season only moved him up 10 spots on the list, though, and he once again let SI know how he felt on Twitter.

The reasoning for the ranking is lengthy and you can read it here, but here's a passage from the article, as per SI:

"Were DeRozan even an average three-point shooter, some of these problems would disappear. If he were any kind of helpful defender, a portion of the negatives might come out in the wash. Were he more active off the ball or aware with it, things might work out more often in his favor. But to all of the above, he isn’t. For five straight years, the Raptors have performed better with DeRozan off the floor. The truth of his value is more complicated than that, though the wealth of mixed signals to this point are beyond coincidence. We know DeRozan can score. But to what end?"

We think DeMar should at the very least be ranked in the top 30, but he isn't and he seems ready to prove why he deserves to be ranked with the NBA's elite.

Plus, DeRozan isn' the first person to take a shot at SI for their rankings.  Last year, Isaiah Thomas was ranked No. 45 and wasn't happy about it.

After a historic season, Thomas moved up to 40, so we may see another tweet from the underrated star, too.
