Trades that work out for both teams are the best trades in our opinion and based on early impressions, the Raptors' trade with the Spurs has worked out for the best for both teams and star players involved.

Kawhi Leonard has looked like the top-five player we all remember him being, while DeMar DeRozan has the Spurs off to a 7-4 start and he's averaging career-highs in assists and rebounds.

DeRozan's start to his Spurs career has been awfully impressive, especially when you consider the adjustment he's had to make both on and off the court due to the trade that nobody could have seen coming.

In an interview with Jonathan Abrams of BR Mag, DeRozan discussed the trade and shared some previously unknown details about it like where he was when he got the news.

DeRozan also talked about his relationship with Kyle Lowry and how it hasn't changed even though they're not teammates anymore.

Recently, Lowry matched a school fundraising goal for DeRozan's five-year-old daughter. ("He woke me up out my sleep this morning to tell me that, and something like that is just super cool, man," DeRozan says.) Since DeRozan's departure, Lowry has solitarily continued their pregame handshake ritual. ("It's not surprising, because I know that's my man," DeRozan says.)

DeRozan's return to Toronto is going to be an emotional one for him, his former teammates, and the fans, and we think all Raptors fans will agree when we say it's awesome to see him succeeding as a Spur.
