DeMar DeRozan has broken his silence.

The former Raptors guard, who was sent to the San Antonio Spurs in a package deal for superstar Kawhi Leonard, took to Instagram to thank the city of Toronto and Raptors fans across the country on Saturday afternoon.

The 28-year-old Compton native wiped his Instagram account clean a few weeks ago of all his photos and videos shared over his time as a Raptor to symbolize the next chapter in his basketball career.

Before and after the trade, DeRozan posted several messages and emojis to his Instagram story saying he felt betrayed by the Raptors for eventually dealing him despite the organization saying they had no intentions of trading him.

"If there was a miscommunication there I do apologize to him and his family," Raptors president Masai Ujiri said on Friday during his first press conference since making the deal. "That's not what I meant."

DeRozan spent the first nine seasons of his career in Toronto where he was a four-time NBA all-star. He leaves the club as the all-time leader in points, games, minutes, field goals and free throws.

This past January, DeRozan, regarded as one of the greatest Raptors in franchise history next to Vince Carter, broke Carter’s single-game record of 51 points by tallying 52 against the Milwaukee Bucs. The shooting guard is entering the third year of his five-year, $139 million contract he signed with the Raps back on July 14th, 2016.
