Even though he’s a full season removed from playing for the Toronto Raptors, DeMar DeRozan obviously still has close and often complicated ties with the city. His nine years with the Raptors were definitive for the franchise, even if they were never able to get over the hump in the playoffs until trading him for Kawhi Leonard.

During media day with the Spurs, DeRozan reflected on watching his former team win a title. It was a little weird, but for the most part, he was happy for his former teammates and grateful to still be in the minds of Raptors fans during the championship season.

It really is nice to see that his time with the Raptors still holds special to DeRozan. He got an incredible ovation in his return to Toronto last season, and it’s clear that by and large, it’s all love all around.

Even as recently as last week, before training camps started up around the NBA, DeRozan made sure to get in some face time with his old buddy Kyle Lowry. The brotherhood’s still going strong. You love to see it!
