DeMar DeRozan gave his all to the city of Toronto during his time with the Raptors as he became the franchise’s leader in games played, field goals and points in the nine years he spent in T.O. However, a new chapter of his life and career started this past offseason when he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green.

With the Spurs set to play the Raptors in Toronto on Friday night DeRozan is back in the city where his NBA career started, only this time he’ll be sitting on the visitor’s bench for the first time in his career. On Thursday night, the four-time NBA All-Star met with the media and talked about getting over the deal, what it’s been like returning to Toronto for the first time and more.

DeRozan: No regrets about what I said after trade, it was real

DeRozan dropped a metaphor during his press conference when asked about the deal as he compared his breakup with the Raptors to getting dumped by someone you still have feelings for.

The trade came unexpected to everyone, including DeRozan, so just about every Raptors fan in Toronto still has nothing but love for the Compton, California native and it showed in first few hours back in town.

DeRozan says standing ovation from Toronto fans would be 'overwhelming'

As for his plans during his free night back in Toronto, he hopes to spend it with his best buddy, Kyle Lowry.

Some things don’t change 😂

DeRozan will most likely get a lengthy standing ovation and touching video tribute in his return, but Raptors fans are probably hoping he doesn’t drop a triple-double on them again like he did in his first game against Toronto.
